SOLOMON CHEN
CEO and Chairman
As the highest-ranking corporate officer within Superior Communications, Solomon is not only responsible for ensuring the company is in alignment with his strategic vision, but for its overall direction as well.
Solomon founded Superior in 1991 as the US distribution arm on a Taiwan-based wireless accessory importer. In 1995, he expanded the business to focus more heavily on the OEM market and to provide added value through supply chain services. In 2007, under his direction, Superior became a leader in wireless accessories distribution, employed more than 300 employees and served 6 out of the 7 top US carriers in their accessory needs. Prior to founding Superior, Solomon established and operated Solson Inc., a retail, wholesale, and activations business, which he grew from 5 to 40 employees.
A street-smart entrepreneur, Solomon is a hands-on executive who places significant importance on the enjoyment, happiness, and job satisfaction of his talented staff, many of whom are former Superior customers.
In May 2008, he lived one of his most memorable moments when he was given the distinct honor of running as torchbearer during the domestic leg of the Olympic Torch Relay in Shanghai, China. And in July 2008, Solomon was the recipient of the Visionary Award from the International Leadership Foundation in Washington, DC, for his wide range of accomplishments as a successful, self-made entrepreneur.
Solomon enjoys spending his spare time with family and friends, playing golf and adding to his collection of vintage BMW motorcycles, rare and unique timepieces, and antique U.S. banknotes.
JEFF BANKS
President
As President of Superior Communications, Jeff Banks is responsible for overseeing the general daily operation of the company as well as fostering its continued growth among manufacturing or trade organizations within the wireless industry.
His primary responsibilities involve the development and implementation of organizational goals and policies. As such, he coordinates organizational activities that are in line with these goals in order to obtain optimum efficiency, economy of operations, and maximum profits by performing his duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Additionally, Jeff directs and coordinates the promotion of products or services that lead to the development of new markets, market share increase, and competitive position within the industry. With regard to the company's operation, Jeff is responsible for the allocation of operational budgets among company divisions/departments. He also confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity, operating, and sales reports to determine if changes in programs or operations are necessary.
Having joined the Superior team in 2000, Jeff previously served as Superior's Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, Sales Operations & Business Development. Prior to joining Superior, he served as National Sales Manager for Andrew Wireless in Chicago, Illinois. He is a graduate of the University of Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in management.
During his spare time, Jeff enjoys boating and spending time with his wife and two kids.
KEITH KAM
Chief Financial Officer
CFO Keith Kam heads Superior's Accounting and Finance departments, overseeing all financial reporting, treasury and cash management, as well as the handling of all bank relationships.
Keith joined the company in 1996, during which time he's helped guide the company's growth from revenues of $15 million to over $200 million dollars in 2005.
Prior to joining Superior, Keith owned and operated an import/export company based in Hong Kong.
Keith is a graduate of the USC Business School where he earned his B.S. in Finance.
LEE BATSON
Senior VP, Marketing - Product/Creative/MARCOM
Lee Batson began his tenure at Superior Communications in 2000. He has developed and implemented multifaceted product and service programs with suppliers and channel partners to enhance revenues as well as increase customer satisfaction and retail point of presence. These programs have been the basis for additional customer acquisition and retention efforts allowing for continued growth.
In addition to his numerous responsibilities, Lee oversees the operation of the following departments: Marketing, Product Marketing, the Creative Design Group, and Business Development.
Prior to joining Superior, Lee was Director of Product Planning at BellSouth where he was fully responsible for all accessory and handset program initiatives. His efforts included product selection, vendor selection, marketing program development and implementation, product quality and supply chain/operational enhancements in BellSouth's domestic and international operations.
Lee graduated on the Dean's List from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration focused on operations management prior to his tenure at BellSouth. He enjoys spending time with his family, golf, and spending time at the lake and beach.
MIKE FOSSELMAN
Vice President, Operations
When Michael Fosselman joined Superior in 1994, "we were in a 5,000 square foot warehouse with no equipment other than a few tape guns and a half dozen racks!" Four expansions and three buildings later, Superior boasts a 225,000 square foot, custom-built, state-of-the-art Distribution Center.
As V.P. of Distribution & Logistics, Michael manages every aspect of daily operations at our Distribution Center, including production and scheduling, inventory management, shipping, receiving, and warehousing. With more than 18 years in the wireless industry, he understands reliable fulfillment is key to our success.
Prior to joining Superior, Michael worked for Celluphone and McCaw Communications.
Michael is an alumnus of Glendale City College, L.A. Trade Tech, and the Art Center College of Design.
JAMES CHEN
Vice President, Information Technology
James oversees Superior's diverse IT systems. He says his vision is "to make IT an integral part of Superior's business growth. That's why my team works with each department to ensure they have the right tools to grow their business."
Highlights of James' tenure at Superior include the successful implementation of our state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System, Web Portals, eCommerce solutions, and an ERP system. This means Superior is now able to optimally utilize Information Technology to achieve even greater growth in the future.
Prior to joining Superior in 2003, James ran his own Computer Consulting firm focusing on Web Application Development.
James earned his Masters in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
ROBERT CHEN
Vice President, Finance
As Vice President of Finance, Robert Chen is responsible for reporting accurate and timely financial information that is vital to continuously improving Superior's internal controls, reducing indirect costs, and eliminating wasteful spending in order to augment the company's overall operational efficiency.
The information and advice Robert provides plays a critical role in ensuring Superior achieves an increase in sales, profitability, and return of capital. He is also responsible for the development of Activity-Based profitability reporting, performance metrics, logistics business, financial budgets, and forecasts.
After graduating from the University of California Los Angeles with a BA in Economics and Finance, Robert went on to earn his MBA in Accounting, Operations, and Information Management from the University of Southern California.
In his spare time, Robert enjoys a number of activities that include skiing, tennis, motor sports, tropical fish, professional football, boxing, and martial arts.
EDDIE HSU
Vice President, Strategic Operations Alliance
As Vice President of Superior's Strategic Operations Alliance, Eddie Hsu is responsible for the seamless collaboration between Superior's US and China offices. He is instrumental in ensuring Superior's business processes are successfully implemented, managed and executed, which allow for smooth project transitions, when necessary, between the two offices.
Eddie joined Superior in 2004 as its Director of Application Development for Sales & Marketing. As director, his primary responsibility involved managing database integrations and system development projects for both sales and marketing departments, which include order automations, eCommerce and Business Intelligence Reports.
Prior to joining Superior, Eddie built an extensive engineering background that covers a wide spectrum of industries - from space science (Jet Propulsion Lab) to health care (FHP) to public utilities (Southern California Edison). His past work experience has enabled him to take on new challenges at Superior that require immediate action and intelligent decision-making.
Eddie earned a Master's Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and listening to classical music and opera.
MARK ROBERTS
Vice President, Sales
Since joining Superior in 2001, Mark Roberts has been an integral part of the company's sales force. As Vice President of Sales, he is primarily responsible for maintaining the sale activity of key accounts as well as managing one of Superior's most strategically diverse departments whose function is key to the continued growth of the company.
In addition to his managerial responsibilities, Mark works closely with senior management to develop and implement sales strategies and tactical business plans that effectively allow the Sales Team to achieve predetermined annual goals. Whenever possible, Mark also aids in the expansion of the company's customer base by pursuing potential sales and growth opportunities throughout various regions of the country.
Mark is a graduate of Washington State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business. During his spare time, he enjoys boating, reading and spending time with his family.
BRIAN WILLIAMS
Vice President, Sales Operations and Supply Chain
Brian Williams joined Superior Communications in January 2007 and currently serves as the company's Vice President of Sales Operations and Supply Chain. He is primarily responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective procurement of quality accessory products that not only satisfy customer and consumer demand, but enable the Superior Sales Team to better establish business with current and potential customers.
As a veteran of the wireless industry (on the carrier side), Brian possesses nearly two decades of experience working in sales, account management, procurement, product marketing and inventory management. He brings a wealth of experience to Superior and has provided the company with a broad outlook regarding all aspects associated with current business needs. His in-depth knowledge of current product trends has also aided the company in remaining a competitive leader in the wireless accessory industry.
Brian obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from East Carolina University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of South Florida and an MBA from Florida Metropolitan University. During his spare time, he is an avid golfer and enjoys listening to a variety of music genres.
